What it does

Urea is a small molecule that the skin itself contains as part of its natural moisturising factor. Cosmetic urea is made synthetically from ammonia and carbon dioxide, not from animals. It draws water into the surface layer and at higher percentages softens rough, thick skin. CosIng lists it as humectant, buffering and skin conditioning.

It is synthetic and affects none of the six checks.
