What it does

Sodium salicylate is the water-soluble salt of salicylic acid. In cosmetics small amounts support the preservative system and, in alcohol-based products, denature the alcohol so it cannot be drunk.

CosIng lists it as preservative and denaturant, with a concentration limit in the EU. It is synthetic and affects none of the six checks.
