Sodium Hyaluronate

Also listed as: Hyaluronic Acid

The salt form of hyaluronic acid, a humectant that holds many times its weight in water.

What it triggers

  • Vegan originNot sureplant or animal source
  • FragranceNonot a perfume ingredient
  • ParabenNonot a preservative of this family
  • SulfateNonot a sulfate surfactant
  • SiliconeNonot a silicone
  • AlcoholNonot a drying alcohol

What it does

Sodium hyaluronate is smaller and more stable than hyaluronic acid, so most serums use this form. Today it is almost always made by fermentation.

Because older production methods used animal tissue and labels do not state the source, it makes the vegan check say not sure unless the brand claims vegan.
