What it does

PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil is castor oil hardened with hydrogen and joined to about 40 units of ethylene oxide. The result mixes oil into water so a toner, micellar water or shower gel can carry scent and plant oils without turning cloudy. CosIng lists it as emulsifying and cleansing surfactant.

The castor part is plant-derived. It affects none of the six checks.
