What it does

Octyldodecanol is a liquid fatty alcohol that spreads easily and does not feel oily. It carries pigments in lipsticks, dissolves sunscreen filters and softens skin in creams and hair products. CosIng lists it as emollient and solvent.

It is a fatty alcohol, so the alcohol-free check never counts it. It is made synthetically from fatty acids and affects none of the six checks.
