If a product lists Lanolin, its vegan answer is No. Nothing else changes.

What it does

Lanolin is chemically close to the oils in human skin, which is why it softens so well. It appears in lip balms, nipple creams and hand creams. Lanolin Alcohol is a fraction of it used as an emulsifier.

It is animal-derived, so a product that lists it is not vegan. Lanolin Alcohol is a fatty alcohol and does not count against the alcohol-free check.

Functions: emollient, occlusive
