What it does

Hydrated silica is silica with bound water, made into fine particles. In toothpaste it is the main cleaning grit; in powders and creams it thickens and absorbs oil. CosIng lists it as abrasive, absorbent, bulking and viscosity controlling.

It is a mineral and affects none of the six checks.
