What it does
Glycine is one of the building blocks of collagen and keratin. Brands add it to moisturisers, shampoos and toothpaste as a mild humectant and pH buffer.
CosIng lists it as skin and hair conditioning, buffering and antistatic. It can be made synthetically or taken from gelatin, and the label does not say which, so the vegan check says not sure unless the product is marked vegan. It affects none of the other five checks.
