What it does

Coco-caprylate is made from coconut fatty alcohol and caprylic acid. It spreads easily and leaves a dry, silky finish, so brands that avoid silicones use it in serums, lotions and sunscreens for a similar slip.

CosIng lists it as emollient. It is plant-derived and affects none of the six checks; it is not a silicone.
