What it does

CI 15850 covers the pigments known in the US as D&C Red No. 6 and Red No. 7 (often as a calcium or barium lake). It gives the classic blue-toned red of many lipsticks and appears in blush, nail polish and coloured soaps.

CosIng lists it as a colorant and hair dyeing agent, and it is on the EU list of permitted colorants. It is synthetic and affects none of the six checks.
