What it does
Cetrimonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound with a cetyl tail. It bonds to damaged, negatively charged spots on hair, smoothing the surface so a comb slides through. Conditioners, masks and leave-ins use it. CosIng lists it as antistatic, emulsifying and preservative.
The cetyl chain can come from plant or animal fat and the label does not say which, so on its own it leaves the vegan answer at not sure.
