What it does

Ceteareth-20 is cetearyl alcohol (a fatty alcohol) reacted with about twenty units of ethylene oxide. It is one of the workhorse emulsifiers in lotions, sunscreens and hair conditioners, keeping the cream from separating.

CosIng lists it as cleansing and emulsifying. The fatty alcohol usually comes from palm or coconut oil but can be made from animal fat, and the label does not say which, so the vegan check says not sure unless the product is marked vegan. It is not a drying alcohol and affects none of the other five checks.
