What it does

Cellulose gum is cellulose from wood pulp or cotton, modified so it dissolves in water and forms a smooth gel. It thickens toothpaste, holds the paste together and stabilises creams. CosIng lists it as binding, emulsion stabilising, film forming and viscosity controlling.

It is plant-derived and affects none of the six checks.
