What it does

Arginine is one of the amino acids that make up proteins. Brands add it to shampoos and conditioners for softness and to creams to adjust pH more gently than a strong alkali would.

CosIng lists it as skin and hair conditioning and antistatic. Cosmetic-grade arginine is made by fermentation of sugars, so it affects none of the six checks.
