What it does
This crosspolymer is a relative of carbomer with fatty side chains. It thickens water into a gel and, unlike plain carbomer, can also keep oils and sunscreen filters evenly dispersed without a strong emulsifier. CosIng lists it as emulsion stabilising, film forming and viscosity controlling.
It is synthetic and affects none of the six checks.
